Spring Closet Clean Out Guide: Part I

I always get the itch to clean out my entire house once winter ends and this year is no exception. My biggest hurdle are closets where I tend to stuff things and shut the door - out of sight, out of mind. This spring I am determined to clean out all the closets and minimize what we need. Having four children means that everything becomes a “hand me down” which makes it very hard to narrow down items and keep things tidy. I have bins and bins of clothing for the younger age ranges and my mind spins just thinking about it. Anyways, I digress. Today’s post and this guide will focus on my own closet since this has been a focus of mine the past year and I thought I was getting somewhere when in fact, I wasn’t.

Right now I have clothing in three different closets** and a moveable wardrobe downstairs that holds off season coats. Living where there are 4 distinct season means that you inevitably have more clothing to fit all the changing seasons. I am determined to reduce all of my clothing to ONE closet and make it easier to get dressed and find items that I love.

**just to clarify the three closets - I have summer dresses hanging in one of the kids room because our walk in have VERY limited hanging space for dresses and I have all my workout clothing in a different closet because I can’t seem to narrow that down to one drawer (again, winter and summer workout clothing)

Over the course of this spring clean out series we will dive deep into our own closets and try to minimize what we own and make what we own, work for us. I will bring you along on my own journey as we do this and it will also hold me accountable.
