Hi everyone,
Happy Friday!
So I’ve been training for the sprint triathlon which somehow tends to creep up on us real quick every year. This year our daughter is doing it with us which I am really excited about! I’ve been trying to fit in training whenever possible (which always seems impossible) and I have come to the realization that the *best* time to work out is when you need to go pick up your kids from somewhere. Time your run so that you need to sprint the ENTIRE way home in order to get to pick up on time and your training will be on fire (:
That new deodorant came in last week and I have to say, I love it. The smell is perfection - very lightweight but fresh. It doesn’t cake on. I don’t smell like a fried onion by the end of a sweaty summer day. Win, win, win.
I just finished “Know My Name” and wow. Chanel’s memoir is beautifully written and puts into words what so many of women experience within their lifetime. For those of you that don’t know, Chanel (otherwise known as Emily Doe throughout this story) was sexually assaulted by Brock Turner back in 2015. This memoir walks you down every step along the way and the reflections afterwards. One of the last chapters compares Trump to her assailant and it really had me thinking……
“We live in a time where it has become difficult to distinguish between the President’s words and that of a nineteen-year-old assailant.”
I wrote down a few other quotes from the book that I really liked:
“We scrutinized the victims actions, instead of examining the behavioral patterns of sexual predators.”
“It had never occurred to me that I’d given the opinions of online strangers equal weight to actual people. This was a powerful revelation. I had never heard those horrible things spoken; when the news was relayed to a person, silence enfolded them, a palpable sadness, a teardrop, a hug. I began to distinguish real experiences from online ones. “
Now I am on to my next book, “The Enchanted Hour” and after that I have “When Women Were Dragons” on deck!
Over on my sale/recent finds substack I posted a few home decor items that grabbed my eye recently….
I also shared a post this week about my fall forecast - items I am eyeing, color hues that I am drawn to, outerwear for layering and more!
HOUSEKEEPING:
🌼 30% off Aerie - Quite a few of my athleisure items are from Aerie and our oldest loves to wear Aerie as well so I will only shop there when there’s a sale. My picks: cloud fleece trouser, anytime fave flannel, my daughter loves these shorts, really digging the dark brown hue of this shirt, + basic ruched cami
🪸 My SPANX code was increased to 15% off + free shipping (LYNZY10) if you had your eyes on anything. My favorite pieces are those incredibly comfy pants (awesome for travel) and matching half zip
🌸 There won’t be a newsletter next week because I am taking the time off to spend with the kids since it’s their last full week of summer before school starts (:
