WEEKLY EDITION: June 20th
Heyyyy ya!
I am off on a MUCH NEEDED girls trip this weekend with some college friends. We are heading to upstate New York to the wilderness where I plan to melt into an adirondack chair and forget about the world for a bit.
It’s supposed to be around 100 next week when we will be at the Cape so that should be fun! I swear that I would be the happiest person if I could just live in a good 60 degree range for summer. Maybe Iceland?! I heard that the Treehouse Brewery in Sandwich MA is pretty cool so we are planning to check that out on the way into the Cape. We haven’t been able to relax and go away for awhile so we are excited to unwind a bit.
We did our annual strawberry/raspberry picking and I love comparing the pictures of the kids throughout the years. 🍓
This week was another heavy one with the news. It all makes me want to scream and I keep hearing from those who are older and wiser than me that politics has very often been this way but it’s all just too much right now. Today’s newsletter will have a few news points here and there but I am taking a bit of a break in my head space so that I can clear my head and be ready to bounce back in when we get back (and yes, recognizing the privilege I have to do so).
If you have any specific topics you want me to cover in the coming months - please tell me below.

We will be away next week so leaving this blank but I did try the most amazing recipe (crispy chicken with broccoli slaw) from this cookbook this week and it was delicious. Everything we have tried so far has been great.

READ || How the Overton Window Explains Normalizing Extremism Right Before Our Eyes | Emily Amick Newsletter → I linked to this before but it’s HUGELY important right now and I highly encourage everyone to give it a read!
“Trump and the current leaders of the Republican party are pushing the Overton window on many fronts to make their outlandish policies become more mainstream. By repeatedly discussing these ideas, they gradually move public perception and make previously radical concepts seem more acceptable. And talking about something at its most extreme, for example tradwives pledging complete submission to their husbands, pulls the Overton window along. The goal isn’t to push it all the way to repealing the 19th amendment, it’s about just getting rid of no-fault divorce.”
READ || The Great Alone | Kristin Hannah → I am currently reading this Kristin Hannah book and it’s a lengthy one (550 pages) but I am loving it thus far. It takes place in rural Alaska and it’s a fascinating read - less “historical fiction” than her other books and more of an actual story.
READ || Raising Mentally Strong Kids | Daniel Amen, MD + Carles Fay PhD → I have heard wonderful things about this book and it’s on my read list for July!
LISTEN || The Best People Podcast with Nichole Wallace | My mom was raving about this podcast so I saved it to my podcast feed for my drives to work!
READ || The Real MAHA Agenda? Sending Women Back to the Kitchen | Self → Screaming all of this from the rooftops - when will the women obsessed with MAHA realize it? When it’s too late? MAHA is great when it comes to pointing out problems but it lacks the common sense to find the answers to the problems.
“Nearly 50 million people in this country lack access to a nutritous diet, much less a farm selling fresh food or organic options (which tend to be priced, on average, 53% higher than conventional, based on a 2025 LendingTree analysis”
LISTEN || Goddess | Iggy Azalea → I just found this song the other day and now it’s on repeat -
It ain't no one man can stop us
Bow down to a Goddess, bow down to a Goddess, bow down to a Goddess
If you are looking to bring the party with you wherever you go, bring this.
I miss the 90s.
I told you that I was buying this set for the kids to play with this summer and I was skeptical that they would actually use it. Update: they have played with this every single day and it was 100% worth the money.
Apparently the administration is trying to politicize healthcare and put in place new rules that allow doctors at VA hospitals to refuse treatment for Democrats and unmarried veterans.

Deter pests in your garden with some good ole cinnamon!
I don’t usually wear makeup unless we have an event or are going out but I recently got to test out this blurring pillow blush and the rosy rest is gorgeous on. Saving it for some events we have this summer.
Remember that silly soda Poppi? It claimed to be “gut healthy”. Well one people out of the TEN MILLION that purchased it decided to google if 2 grams of fiber was gut healthy and then filed and won a lawsuit for $9m and said it was false advertising. Poppi sold to Pepsi for $2B. THIS IS WHAT I DISLIKE about the wellness community and wellness products in general. They are all just trying to sell you lies and don’t actually make you healthier.
Thanks to RFK Jr. the LGBTQ+ suicide and mental health crisis hoteline was shut down. Canada added a toll free number so that you can still get the help you need at no cost. Please share! 1-877-330-6366
Remember this song? It’s still one of my favorites….
Just restocked this deodorant - it’s the only one that works on my sticky pits 🤷🏼♀️ You can use code: LYNZY15 for 15% off (I reached out to get that for you all!)
Clare V. always has great messaging on their products - love this “equality” hat
This company just sent me these laundry pods and I am obsessed with this scent - our clothes smell wonderful! Scent: Australian Sandalwood — You should be able to grab a coupon code pop up on their website. If not, try WELCOME15
Stumbled upon this Nike skort and loved the button front - would look really cute with a simple tank
U.S. judge invalidates Biden rule protecting abortion data → In Amarillo, Texas, Judge Matthew Kacsmaryk struck down a Biden‑era rule that barred healthcare providers and insurers from sharing abortion or gender‑affirming care data with state law enforcement. The ruling weakens privacy protections for those seeking legal reproductive healthcare
UK moves to decriminalize abortion in England & Wales → In a landmark parliamentary vote, MPs passed an amendment to end criminal penalties for abortion after 24 weeks. The change focuses on shifting abortion out of the 1861 criminal code, keeping existing medical safeguards in place.
Georgia nurse kept on life support under strict abortion law → The brain‑dead body of 31‑year‑old nurse Adriana Smith was legally required to remain on life support to sustain her fetus until delivery, born at just 1 lb 13 oz. this past week. I have no words.
Study links abortion bans to rise in domestic violence → A National Bureau of Economic Research study found counties in near‑total abortion ban states experienced a 7–10% increase in intimate‑partner violence. It estimates roughly 9,000 extra incidents in 2023 alone, underscoring abortion access as a critical component of family safety
